The job holder will perform independent business reviews (IBRs) and provide advice with an emphasis on defined benefit pension scheme related matters. Working principally with pension scheme trustees and, less commonly, scheme sponsoring companies, the manager will advise clients on:
� Strategies for reducing pension scheme deficits (usually in conjunction with Mercer or other Scheme Actuary)
� Approaches to assessing employer covenants and advising on improvement strategies
� Negotiation strategies and liaison with The Pensions Regulator (TPR) and, where appropriate, the Pension Protection Fund (PPF)
The job holder will provide advice in response to the following covenant review drivers:
� Ongoing employer financial risk monitoring
� Contribution negotiations
� Employer M&A activity
� Employer reorganisations and financial restructuring
