Training and Compliance Manager/ Senior Manager
Our client provides training, compliance services and technical support as well as an audit methodology to more than 250 accountancy firms across the UK. Their clients range from members of the Accountancy Age Top 50 to sole practitioners. Our client's areas of expertise include audit and assurance, financial reporting and practice procedures. Established for over forty years, they pride themselves on providing their clients a truly personal service and providing practical advice on current technical developments and issues.
To aid their continued expansion, we are looking for an experienced accountant with a keen interest in financial reporting and auditing and a passion for training. This client facing role is at the centre of the small and friendly technical team and reports directly to the Managing Director. The successful candidate will have a significant degree of autonomy and will help provide the following services to our clients:
*Visiting clients and presenting our client's core Quarterly CPD Updates;
*Updating and presenting courses for trainees and qualified staff on a range of topics including financial reporting, audit and practice procedures;
*Conducting both engagement quality control reviews (EQCR) and quality control cold file reviews on audit and non-audit files, providing face to face feedback to clients and preparing detailed reports;
*Advising clients on our client's technical helpline covering UK GAAP and IFRS; Auditing Standards, Ethical issues, Company Law and specialist areas (including Charities, Pensions, SRA Accounts Rules and FCA);
The role may also include:
*Writing and updating technical and compliance manuals;
*Practice Assurance Compliance reviews for firms;
*Other consultancy services as necessary and as skills develop.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop strong relationships with key clients and help build and expand the business going forward with the ultimate objective of becoming a Director. Appropriate training and support is provided on an ongoing basis.
The successful candidate must:
*Be able to present and explain complex issues with confidence and enthusiasm, both in formal presentations and when de-briefing compliance reviews;
*Have a strong audit background at supervisor or manager level and possess an excellent understanding of current financial reporting and audit requirements;
*Have at least two years post qualification experience and therefore have, or be eligible to obtain, a Practising Certificate with a CCAB body;
*Have good inter-personal skills, and be comfortable meeting with, and talking to partners and all levels of staff at our clients
*Be flexible and able to visit clients throughout the UK (although the majority of work is within a 50-mile radius of London);
*Be self-motivated and able to work independently.
